Reed Brothers Security fabricates, sells and installs prefabricated and custom window guards for residential and commercial customers. We often work with Home Owner Associations and Property Management groups to install appropriate window guards suitable to the proterty.
We even design and install egress friendly custom window guards. When a specific window is part of the path of egress, the window guard must be designed to open from the inside without any special knowledge.
Standard Window Guards
The standard prefabricated window guards come with 1/2" vertical tubular pickets, 5/8" horizontal tubular pickets, top and bottom apache spear points (These are the pointy ends on the top and bottom of the pre-fabricated window guards), and a powcoat finish (standard color is black with a variety of other colors available).
Steel Mesh Window Guards
Stainless steel mesh window guards provide optimum protection while allowing for ventilation with unobstructed clear vision views. Take a few steps back and your mesh window screen will seemingly disappear. These mesh window guards are modern replacements for old-style steel bar type security windows.
When considering window guards there are a couple of safety concerns to address: Window bars can block egress from buildings since they are designed to block entry through windows. When a specific window is part of the path of egress it must be designed to open from the inside without any special (specific) knowledge. Specific knowledge refers to keys, codes, access cards or fobs, or any other special device required to open the window guard. The usual standard is 5 lbs of pressure or less to activate a paddle or button that will release the window guard and provide an egress path.
