Frequently Asked Questions

Does Reed Brothers Security hold the master key?
No. By strict regulations, only the San Jose Fire Department (SJFD) has the master key to access your KnoxBox. We provide professional mounting but do not have opening authority.
Once mounted, contact the SJFD Bureau of Fire Prevention at 200 East Santa Clara St. An inspector will visit your property to secure the keys inside using their master key.
Per San Jose Municipal Code Section 17.12, the center of the box must be mounted between 48 and 60 inches above the finished floor on the latch side of the entrance door.
